An engagement ring should feel like it belongs to one person only.
For years, Ward Strootman has designed bespoke engagement rings for clients, bringing together his background in gemology with his sculptural approach to design.
Each ring begins differently. Sometimes with a particular stone. Sometimes with a story, a shape, or simply a feeling.
Rather than following traditional jewelry design, Ward works intuitively around the natural character of the gemstone. Its proportions, color and imperfections become part of the design. Settings can be asymmetric, bands can take on organic forms, and traditional proportions are often reconsidered.
The result is a ring that feels less like a piece selected from a collection, and more like a small sculpture created for one person.
At the center is always the stone.
Natural diamonds and colored gemstones are personally selected for their individual character, with Ward's background as a GIA Graduate Gemologist guiding the process from stone selection to the final design.
Every engagement ring is created as a one-of-one piece. Shaped around the person who will wear it, and the story shared between two people.

THE DESIGN PROCESS
No previous knowledge is needed to begin. Some clients arrive with a clear idea or a collection of references, while others prefer to leave the direction entirely to Ward.
With his background as a gemologist, Ward can guide you through the possibilities of diamonds and gemstones from different diamond shapes and colors. Together, you explore what suits best for you, the person and the budget.

Finding Your Stone
Explore a carefully selected collection of diamonds and gemstones to find the stone that feels uniquely yours.
Refining the Design
With your stone selected, we refine every element of the design — from proportions and setting to the choice of 14k or 18k gold and the smallest personal details.

A bespoke engagement ring takes time. We recommend starting at least eight weeks before your planned proposal to allow enough time for stone selection, design and craftsmanship.
